The Art of Balance Dojo has had an incredible start to the 2018-2019 season. The medal haul has been plentiful including a recent Silver Medal at the ELITE 8 NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS! Martin RYGIELSKI travels all the way from KITCHENER, Ontario to improve his judo. He flew through the first two rounds of the National Championships before eventually succumbing to a strong fighter from Quebec in the Final.
Two other athletes qualified for this exclusive event, Solomon Choran and Josephine Morgenroth, both finishing in a very respectable 7th place.
Josephine MORGENROTH is a special judoka, while training at the Dojo she is also in the first year of her PHD studies for Tunnel Engineering and Rock Mechanics, which is a near-miraculous juggling act. She is returning to the competitive scene after a 2 year hiatus due to ACL replacement surgery. Although we want and expect better results for Josephine going forward, there has been a great deal of progress in her judo development since arriving at the dojo in early September.
Solomon CHORAN has been on an absolute tear to start the season taking a Bronze and a 5th in New York, 2 gold in Saskatchewan, 2 gold and a bronze in New Brunswick, a bronze in Montreal and another in Toronto since September. He has cemented his place as one of the best up and coming fighters in Canada and just departed for a 2 week training camp at Budo University in Katsuura JAPAN, along with 14 members of TEAM CANADA.
Finally, Shahab Pesteh just received his BLACK BELT in judo. This is a great accomplishment as there is a rigorous testing process through the Provincial Grading Board and took many months of preparations to pass. Congratulations Shahab!
The competitive team will be returning to the tournament scene on February 2nd in Whitby, Ontario in preparation for the upcoming National as well as International events this Spring.
